A Showcase of the world

A Theme park a world apart

EPCOT. A uniquely planned park. The theming from the fabled lands of the Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios are stark contrasts of the land of many cultures and many festivals.

EPCOT it isn’t the planned experimental prototype community of tomorrow that Walt Disney envisioned. However, it does provide an blended perspective to today’s global community, with 11 countries represented in the World Showcase portion of the park. Here, I will highlight the many festivals that you may find when you plan your next Walt Disney World Resort vacation.

International Festival of the Arts is a showcase of creative arts activities, artwork, beautifully created culinary treats, and crowd-engaging performances. Although it is one of the shortest festivals, the offerings for activities are plentiful, especially for kids. On display, you will find artwork for sale and whimsical treats in the shape of an artist’s palette or the beloved Figment.

From paint-by-number wall murals, to step-in-to-a-painting photo booth, you will find engaging activities that the entire family can participate in during your visit to this festival in January through late February.

International Flower & Garden Festival is a celebration of spring, as well as the blossoming of new flavors from around the world. This festival embraces its local pollinators and  beautiful fluttering flower hoppers by adopting Spike the Bee as the festival mascot and inviting parkgoers to the enclosed butterfly house during this festival.

As you stroll through the park visiting the various food and activity booths, you will find well-manicured moss and flower topiaries fashioned in the shape of your favorite Disney characters. Take time to snap pictures every step of the way. End your day enjoying a musical playlist during the Garden Rocks concert series, followed by fireworks in the lagoon.

No matter your plans, you are sure to enjoy this spring/summer EPCOT festival.

International Festivals’  Timelines

  • March through June (recently July) – Flower and Garden

International Food and Wine  This festival, the only one dedicated to food in nomenclature, isn’t one to miss. Bring your friends and your taste buds. You can explore the the magic of the food and musical tunes at the Eat to the Beat concert series, featuring local and national bands.

Alternately, exploring authentic international cuisines and alcoholic beverages (for parkgoers 21 and over with valid ID) can be a relaxing way to spend your late summer – early autumn visit to EPCOT.
